Symphonic Band "Americana" Concert

Steppin' Out

Frankie Avalon

Emma’s Child

This mulit-award winning Canadian play is the moving and powerful account of one couple’s struggle to understand the nature of commitment. Based on the playwright’s own experience, it follows Jean and Henry, each struggling to come to terms with the reality of adopting a disabled infant.

ONU Symphony

Sounds Of Silence – The Suppressed Artistic Expression Of The Socialist era

Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 8 p.m.
Join the orchestra as they explore the profound effects the Socialist Movement had on music, complete with a multi-media presentation of the devastating effects of this era. Virgo Veldi, saxophonist from Estonia, and Orna Arania, a soprano from Israel, will join the ONU Symphony for an evening of special music, including a world premier of a new work by Israeli composer Yehezkel Braun.

Band-O-Rama

The Symphonic Band will begin the concert with some of the most popular concert band music of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Star of Northwest Ohio follows with screaming brass and heart pounding percussion. The ONU Marching Band under the direction of Dr. Charles Bates will surround you with sound and excitement as the band performs the music of this year’s show entitled, Livin’ La Vida Loca...What A Rush!!!!

The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?

The Dixie Hummingbirds

American Premiere of Looking After Norman

The Second City – “Truth, Justice, or the American Way”

ONU Men’s Chorus With Bowling Green Men’s Chorus

The Prodigals

Irish? Rock? Celtic? Yep! Come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the Freed Center. That is what the hard rock quartet from Ireland is all about. The four members of the group play and sing in a conglomeration that wildly expresses their nontraditional traditional Irish music. Watch them perform such hits as Ballybay, Happy Man Ghost Riders in the Sky and Rattlin’ Bog. Come enjoy this fast paced, hard rock, Irish jig-funk band.

Mozart’s, The Magic Flute

Mozart’s, The Magic Flute, has captivated and thrilled audiences of all ages for over two centuries. The tale of the handsome hero, Tamino, and his quest for love, truth and beauty, is set in an enchanted, mysterious forest. The adventure begins when the Queen of the Night, an evil sorceress, uses her magic and her minions to foil Tamino’s search. Charmed animals, a bumbling bird catcher and of course, a magic flute, lighten the mood. Mozart’s beautiful and familiar melodies will transport the audience to a fairytale world of romance and magic. Sung in English, this is a great “first opera” for beginners.

Band Festival XXXII

Petula Clark with the ONU Symphony

Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 8 p.m.
The ONU Symphony Orchestra closes out the season with a Pops concert featuring international Grammy Award winning star Petula Clark. The orchestra will join her to perform some of her classic hits including Downtown and I Know a Place. Over 50 years and 1,000 plus songs, Petula Clark is still recording hits, to date selling over 68 million records.
