Auditions for Current Students

The 2006-2007 Theatre department season has been chosen. Put the audition dates in your calendar so you too can be a part of the 16th season of the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

We encourage all students from the university community to audition. Preference is not given to majors or minors.

There will be sign up sheets for auditions on the callboards in the back hallway of the Freed Center. Sign up sheets will go up 1 week before the audition dates. Please sign up for a time and see the appropriate callboard for additional information.

A Tribute to Broadway

Audition Date: September 6, 2006 @ 6:00 PM
Location: Freed Center
Audition requirements: Auditions will be in the form of a class. Dancers should wear dance cloths and bring jazz and tap shoes.

Emma's Child

Audition Date: September 7, 2006 @ 6:00 PM
Location: Freed Center
Audition requirements: Prepare a 90 second monologue from a contemporary play which shows qualities you believe are crucial to the charater in "Emma's Child" you are most interetsed in playing. Be prepared to chat about the piece, yourself, and the play at the audition.

Holiday Spectatular

Audition Date: September 7, 2006 @ 6:00 PM
Location: Freed Center
Audition requirements: Performers should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo, contemporary, musical theatre selection and 16 bars of a contemporary, musical tehatre ballad (contemporary, in this instance, are selections from 1980 to the present day). In addition, plesae prepare a one-minute, contemporary comedic monologue. It need not be from a musical, but should not be taken from a screen-play. There will be a dance call so please bring appropiate dance clothing and shoes including tap shoes if you possess them. Dancers who don't sing and wish to be considered will be auditioned inthe eraliest portion of the dance call.

Magic Flute

Audition Date: October 19, 2006 @ 6:00 PM
Location: Freed Center
Audition requirements: Performers - Music Majors, Musical Theatre Majors are to prepare an entire aira, concert aria or art song by Mozert. English is preferred but not necessary. The Mozert style is imperative to the production; please do not prepare an aria by any other composer. However, exceptions may be considered at the discretion of the Music Director. The STUDENT MUST contact Lloyd Butler (772-2591) with questions reguarding change of repertoire choice. Performers - BA Theatre Majors who sing may audition and should havetheir repertoire choice approved by the Music Director, Lloyd Butler (772-2591). Performers - Non singing BA Thetare Majors and Dance Minors, there will be an open dance and movement call. No preparation necessary. Please have appropriate dance clothing and shoes.

Viva Tango!

Audition requirements: Auditions will be in the form of a class. Dancers should wear dance cloths and bring jazz and tap shoes.

Looking After Norman

Audition Date: October 30, 2006 @ 6:00 PM
Location: Freed Center
Audition requirements: One short up-beat monologue. One short up-beat song. *Please note that there will be no piano accompaniment at the audition. I am not looking for the best singers, just for people who can hold a tune and belt out!

Twelfth Night

Audition Date: October 31, 2006 @ 6:00 PM
Location: Freed Center
Audition requirements: Two monologues of NO MORE than ONE minute in lenght each: one contemporary comedic piece and one comedic Shakespeare piece. *Actors should NOT use material from "Twelfth Night." Actors should also be prepared to sing a 32 bar selection of their choice, unaccompanied.

Fifth International Play Festival

Audition Date: October 31, 2006 @ 6:00 PM
Location: Freed Center
Audition requirements: One to three minute contemporary, comedic or dramatic monologue. (Students who would like to be considered for both Twelfth Night and International, please use Twelfth Night requirements only.)

Summer Show

Audition Date: February 13, 2007 @ 6:00 PM
